PRODUCTION OF LOW-P PIG

PURPOSE:To inexpensively and easily mass-produce low-P pig without using an electrolytic method or low-P carbonaceous material. CONSTITUTION:A carbonaceous material packed type smelting reduction furnace 1 having two-stage tuyeres 2, 3 is used and the gas temp. at the furnace top is kept at >=700 deg.C. Particulate metal oxides contg. >=20% FeO are blown into this furnace from the upper-stage tuyere 2. The dephosphorization reaction in the furnace is accelerated in this way and the P entering from the carbonaceous material and raw materials is evaporated and the vapor thereof is discharged together with the furnace top exhaust gases, by which the low-P pig is produced.
