PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive carrier for culture of animal cells capable of provision for a variety of sterilizing operations including gamma-ray sterilization by using an eggshell membrane. CONSTITUTION:In the title base materials such as a container for cell culture, microcarrier, film and hollow fiber, an eggshell membrane is used for a carrier on which adhesive animal cells such as fibroblasts and hybridoma are to be carried and grown. This membrane is freed from eggshell combined by pref. acid treatment and e.g. dried and ground into powder 100-400mum in granular size, which is used directly as a microcarrier. Alternatively, said membrane is made into fine powder (1-10mum in granular size), which is then carried on the surface of small spheres consisting of a plastics such as polystyrene, thus obtaining the microcarrier. |
