The thread guides (8) of the cross-winding device are guided along a straight-line guide (9) over the stroke extending along the cross-wound bobbin, and are driven by a threaded shaft (1) which has a continuous thread-groove (4) near the ends of which are reverses. Each thread-guide has only one straight-line guide. The guide housing (5) is rotatably mounted on the axle (2) of the reversing threaded shaft and has evenly distributed straight-line guides over its periphery. The guide housing is driven in a fixed ratio of its rotational speeds as a function of the wind ratio of the reverse threaded shaft and the number of thread-guides and stroke of the threaded shaft.
