Intake air heating method for internal combustion engine in motor vehicle

The method employs a flame device (1). When the temperature in the vehicle interior is too low, the flame device is switched on dependant upon the desired temperature, to increase the output of the vehicle heating system, which uses the engine cooling circuit (5). Regulation of the flame device is dependant upon engine operation point. It is activated by an operating unit (11) of the vehicle heater in the interior via a thermostatic switch (10). Regulation of heat output is via a control appliance (12).
