PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a circuit which can operate fast processing of video data. SOLUTION: This device contains three processors, i.e., a scalar processor 210, a vector processor 220 and a bit stream processor 245. In encoding and decoding of video data, the processor 220 executes an operation that can efficiently be carried out by a single instruction multiple data processor. The processor 245 executes Huffman and RLC encoding or decoding. In the processor 245, a computer system processes simultaneously many data streams. The processors 210 and 220 can be programmed to execute a single arithmetics or a Boolean instruction. The processor 245 can be programmed to execute entire video data processing operations. |
