Wet material is dried on an indirectly heated surface without compacting it. A method for removing excess water from a material comprises placing a material with a solids content of at least 10 (15) % on a heat-emitting surface, which is heated indirectly and preferably flat. An Independent claim is also included for the drying device, comprising a panel (1) with a steel or concrete surface, below which are pipes or channels (2) for a heat-carrying medium.
