The mechanism comprises a stationary contact (3), a moveable contact (4) that is mounted inside a pivoting support (5) on the casing (2), an operating handle (13) that actuates a pivoting pawl (16) by means of a rod (15) to form a swivel joint system, and a trigger mechanism (25) that can be actuated by electromagnetic and/or thermal disconnection means. The pawl is pivotally mounted on the support for the moveable contact around an axis that is situated close to the end of the support opposite the fitted end of the part of the moveable contact that is designed to rest against the stationary contact and the trigger mechanism is comprised of a generally L-shaped part having one branch that is actuated by the disconnection means and one branch that is fitted with a ramp, whereby the outward-turned face of the L-shape rests underneath an additional ramp which is also part of the pawl in order to maintain the swivel joint and subsequently the support for the moveable contact in a position in which the contacts are closed. |
