PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system capable of reducing power consumption, simplifying control procedures, discriminating an end terminal, performing data relay and expanding a communication range by controlling the start/end of an inquiry procedure. SOLUTION: A timer 26 and a super express railway mode button 27 are an inquiry scan performance indicating means for establishing a radio link. The inquiry scan performance indicating means not only indicates the scan start/end of an inquiry message but also has a path for transmitting information to an instruction relay notifying means 28 in order to notify a slave device of the instruction of the start/end of inquiry scan performance. Furthermore, a PDA type portable telephone 13 stores the identification information of the slave device and has an identification information notifying means 29 for notifying a Bluetooth repeater 15 of the identification information.
