PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange membrane with low membrane resistance and high strength by reinforcing a perfluorocarbon polymer membrane with a reinforcing fabric formed with the warp and weft having the specified number of deniers, made of tape yarns of fluorocarbon polymer so as to have the specified density and the specified intersection thickness. SOLUTION: A perfluorocarbon polymer ion exchange membrane is reinforced with a reinforcing membrane made of fluorocarbon polymer fibers. The reinforcing membrane is made of a woven fabric formed with the warp and weft of 10-100 deniers, made of tape yarns of fluorocarbon polymer so as to have a density of 3-50 yarns/inch and an intersection thickness of 40 μm. The fluorocarbon polymer for constituting the woven fabric is preferable to be polytetrafluoroethylene, polyfluorovinylidene, or the like. The perfluorocarbon polymer having an ion exchange group is preferable to be a copolymer of CF2 =CF2 and a fluorovinyl monomer, or the like. |
