This invention provides aryloxy indole derivatives which are useful for the treatment of diseases affected by disorders of the serotonin-affected neurological systems, such as depression and anxiety, the compounds having formula (I) wherein R1 is H or alkyl; R2, R3, and R4 are H, alkyl, or halogen; X is H, halogen, CN, or C1-C6 alkoxy; Z is (CH2)n or carbonyl; n is 1 or 2; and the dashed line indicates an optional double bond; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. |
