PURPOSE: A control valve for a variable displacement compressor is provided to correspond to precise controlling demands of an air conditioner. CONSTITUTION: A control valve for a variable displacement compressor is composed of a control valve(CV) having a valve housing(45). A valve chamber(46) and a pressure reducing chamber(48) are respectively defined in the valve housing. A pressure-reducing member is located in the pressure-reducing chamber. A pressure reducing rod(41) is slidably supported by the valve housing. A valve body(43) is accommodated in the valve chamber. An end of the pressure-reducing rod is connected to the pressure-reducing member and the other end of the pressure-reducing rod contacts the valve body. A solenoid chamber(63) is defined in the valve housing. A stationary iron core(62) is located between the valve chamber and the solenoid chamber. A solenoid rod(40) extends through and is slidably supported by the stationary iron core. An urging force applied to the pressure-reducing member by an actuator through the solenoid rod corresponding to a target value of differential pressure. The pressure-reducing member moves the valve body so that the differential pressure seeks the target value.
