The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for dividing the signalling and voice present in a signal flow in a telephone system which contains analog mobile telecommunication, where the signalling and voice are transferred on the same traffic channel. The method comprises the way of arranging the signalling in branches which are part of the signal flow that is transferred from a mobile telecommunication station to an exchange for mobile telecommunications, for evaluating the acoustic noise during the transmission, for monitoring the signal flow by means of a mobile telephone exchange modem for detecting the branches which contain signalling bit sequences, for dividing the signal flow during the transfer of the signal flow into a signalling component and a voice component based on said modem-mediated monitoring, and for generating deliberate noise based on said monitoring for the regions removed from the signal flow in order to fill in the regions of the voice component that were removed from the signal flow during the dividing.
