PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for displaying a special picture are provided to be used as various purposes by displaying the special picture when a user does not watches a broadcasting program through a digital TV receiver. CONSTITUTION: A storing unit(100) stores data about various special pictures. A user interface unit(104) provides an interface with a user. A video process and output unit processes the data about the special pictures, and outputs the processed data. A control unit(100) reads one or more of the data about the special pictures stored in the storing unit according to the request of the user inputted through the user interface, and outputs the read data through the video process and output unit.
