An apparatus and a method for posture-based data protection are provided to supply a system for helping access to encrypted data in a computing device based on security postures of the computing device. In a method for providing access to encrypted data in a computing device based on a security posture of a computing device, the method comprises the following steps of: assessing the security posture of the computing device where the encrypted data is stored; and providing the computing device with a key for enabling the computing device to access the encrypted data if the assessed security posture satisfies a specific criteria.
