An electrodeless lighting system using microwaves and a resonator thereof are provided to improve luminous efficiency by increasing an intensity of electric field to be applied to a light emitting portion of an electrodeless bulb. A microwave generator(121) generates microwaves, and a light emitting part(133) has a light emitting material excited by the microwaves. An electrodeless bulb has a support(135) connected to the light emitting part. A resonator body(153) is spaced apart from the electrodeless bulb. A resonator(151) has ridge(155) protruded towards the electrodeless bulb from a sidewall of the resonator body along an axial direction of the electrodeless bulb, so that it is connected to an output portion of the microwave generator.
