<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly usable cutting method and apparatus, suppressing chattering without narrowing an area to be machined and without impairing the finishing accuracy of a surface to be machined. <P>SOLUTION: A tool main spindle 7, whose cutting angle can be changed, is translated by an X-axis moving mechanism portion 10 on an X-axis provided in a plane perpendicular to an axis M1 of a workpiece 5; and is translated on a Y-axis by a Y-axis moving mechanism portion 8. Cutting of the work is performed by setting the cutting angle of the tool main spindle 7 to an angle of the cutting tool at which the workpiece 5 has large dynamic rigidity, and causing an axis M3 of the cutting tool 6 to cross the work axis M1, and cutting the workpiece 5 with the cutting tool 6 toward the axis of the work 5 by cooperatively operating the X-axis moving mechanism portion 10 and the Y-axis moving mechanism portion 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
