PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter which can start an engine without instantaneously interrupting an on-vehicle electric apparatus without changing a physique of the starter as a whole while dispensing with a special voltage drop suppression device, and is simple in structure and low in expense.SOLUTION: A brush 13 has a groove 24 at a contact face 13a side at which a commutator 11 slide-moves for actively utilizing the brush 13 and the commutator 11 existing at a starter motor as starter internal resistance, the starter internal resistance is increased by the brush 13 at an initial stage of use by using a brush which is formed shallower than a prescribed wear margin F of the brush 13 itself in a depth D of the groove 24, and on and after a middle stage of the use in which the wear of the brush 13 is progressed up to the extinction of the groove 24, the starter internal resistance is increased by an oxide film which is formed at a surface of the commutator 11. Instantaneous interruption can be thereby suppressed by absolutely dispensing with a special voltage drop suppression device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
