PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is capable of making high-density display with a good visual field angle characteristic and metallic color display and has good visibility. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is constituted by using an STN liquid crystal element 12, which is formed by holding nematic liquid crystals 6 twist oriented to 180 to 270 deg. between a first substrate 1 having first electrodes 3 and a second substrate 2 having second electrodes 4, arranging a polarizing plate 8 via a phase difference plate 13 on the outer side of this second substrate 2, arranging a cholesteric liquid crystal polymer sheet 10 via a circularly polarized light phase difference plate 9 on the outer side of the first substrate 1 and providing the outer side of this cholesteric liquid crystal polymer sheet 10 with a light absorptive member 11. |
