PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing purified light olefin by efficiently removing the by-product from a product gas fraction containing light olefin in producing light olefin (ethylene, propylene) using ethanol (especially, bioethanol derived from plants) as a raw material.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing light olefin by reacting ethanol using a catalyst, which performs purification treatment comprising a step of removing a sulfur content from a product gas fraction after the reaction; a step of removing carbon dioxide gas; and a step of removing moisture.SELECTED DRAWING: None
