An invalid-lifting trolley comprises a pair of arms 2, 21 detachably supporting a flexible sheet 12 and secured to telescoping side members 6, 22 which incorporate a jack for tensioning the sheet and which are supported on a base frame 1 by jacks 4, 5. In the embodiment shown, the jacks are mechanical jacks actuated by a crank 91 on shafts M or M<SP>1</SP>. The frame 1 includes foldable legs 401, 44, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown).
