1,204,031. Coffins. F. GAUCHAUD. 28 Dec., 1967 [6 Jan., 1967], No. 58894/67. Heading A5X. A coffin comprises rigid sections 1, 2, 3, each of the sections having strips 5 of deformable weldable material fluid tightly fixed on its inner surface adjacent the areas of contact with cooperating sections, the sections being assembled with a clearance between them and the strips extending through the clearance where their edges 8, are welded to the edges 9 of the strips of the adjacent cooperating sections, to seal the clearance. The coffin may be evacuated, washed or filled with antiputrefactive gas through a pipe-connection 11 which extends through one strip edge or is welded between two strip edges. The connection 11 is closed by welding. The coffin is finally closed by pushing the welded strips to the inside of the coffin through the clearance and mechanically securing the sections together e.g. by screws 4 to close the clearance. The strips may comprise lining sheets 5 which may have welded seams 6 on the interior of the coffin. In a coffin made of synthetic resin the edges of the strips embedded in the resin of the inside surface of the sections. The strips may be made of lead. |
