A core of glass fibre reinforced casting resin with square ends is clamped into metal end caps and then casting resin moulded, to the required shape around the core and into annular grooves in the caps as in P1665854.1. Instead of split, two piece caps are used in which are blind holes, spring pins being used for mechanical locking at the first assembly stage. An adhesive, filled with a conductive material is interposed between the core ends and the caps.
