[Also in Division C2] Textile fibre materials are flameproofed by treating them with an aqueous preparation containing at least one phosphorus containing reaction product, obtained by reacting a condensation product of 50 to 100 mole % of at least one compound of formula and 0 to 50 mole % of a compound of formula with formaldehyde or a reagent releasing formaldehyde and optionally a C 1-4 alkanol, and thereafter drying the materials and subjecting them to a heat treatment. The aqueous preparation optionally contains a curable aminoplast pre-condensate. The phosphoruscontaining reaction products generally have the formula where R 1 , R 2 , R<SP>1</SP> 1 and R<SP>1</SP> 2 are C 1-4 alkyl, haloalkyl or alkenyl, X 1 is H or C 1-4 alkyl and n is 1 or 2. The preparations also preferably contain a strong acid or a precursor therefor, a latent acid catalyst, and a copolymer prepared by polymerising an alkaline earth metal salt of an α, #-ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, a N-methylolamide or N- methylolamide-ether of an α, #-ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid, and at least one other co-polymerisable monomer. Finishing agents may also be present.</p> |
