PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the antiabrasion property, hardness, and transparency of a hydrophilic member by forming a hardcoat layer consisting of a silicone material having a specific film thickness on the surface of a base material, and further forming a layer containing a photocatalystic oxide having a specific film thickness thereon, and then making the surface layer hydrophilic in accordance with the optical excitation of a photocatalyst. SOLUTION: A layer containing a photocatalystic oxide of 1-200 nm film thickness is formed on the surface of a base material via a hardcoat layer consisting of a silicone material of 1-10 μm film thickness. In this case, an oxide is used for the photocatalyst, which readily takes on a hydrophilic property because such an oxide shows a hydrophilic property in a state having no environmental contaminant adsorbed and/or adhered therein, and contaminant can be excluded by an optical excitation effect, and the formation and increase of an adsorptive layer on the basis thereof. The photocatalystic oxide suitably includes anatase-type titanium dioxide, rutile-type titanium dioxide, tin oxide, zinc oxide, dibismuth trioxide, tungsten trioxide, ferric oxide, strontium titanate, and the like. |
