<p>Water-tight electric cable with polymer-insulated conductors, and telecommunications cable in particular, is produced with the voids of the core filled with a tough sealing paste material which bonds to the conductor insulation and to the covering round the core. The plant consists of a chamber with a pressure head in which the sealant is forced under pressure into and round the core, two tubes at the inlet and outlet of the pressure head and filled with the seal, and a device to apply an outer covering to the cable core immediately after its emergence from the outlet tube; each tube has at least one annular seal of elastic abrasion-and temperature-resistance material inside a cylindrical tube between pressure rings and the inside diameter of the seal can be adjusted axially or radially. The device is simple and applicable to any number of strands, friction of the seal to the core can be adjusted tos uit the tension on the core.</p> |
