A decorative item is constructed from a flat element of flexible material, in partic. cardboard, paper or aluminium coated paper. It has a large number of shaped sections cut into it connected by at least one common peg shaft, such that the sections may be bent outward from the peg. It has a torsional element (6) which extends along the peg shaft (2), which is connected to at least two separate shaped sections (4a, 4b) in such a way that both these sections (4a, 4b) can be rotated relative to each other at a specific angle. as a result all the shaped sections (4) may be thus relatively rotated.
