A dental hygeine device by means of which the gums may be managed and the teeth themselves cleaned uses an electrically powered brush. The brush section is rotationally driven and coupled such that the direction of rotation of the brush itself may be reversed as required. The bristles of the brush are attached in a splayed array to the drive shat of the power drive system such that the overall appearance of the brush is that of a cylinder with the free ends of the bristles forming its cylindrical surface.
