A non-oscillating joint comprises a housing 26, 217 with an annular inner surface, an annular sleeve 42, 224 wedged within the housing 26, 217 a stud 24, 214 with a radially outer bearing surface 40, 228 received in said housing 26, 217 a radially outer bearing surface of the stud 24, 214 lying adjacent a radially inner surface 72 of the sleeve, and an annular bearing 44 wedged within the sleeve 42, 224 the bearing 44 having a longitudinally inner bearing surface 100 contacting a longitudinally outer bearing surface 39, 239 of the stud. In a first embodiment (Figures 5 and 6), both the radially outer bearing surface 239 of the stud 40 and the radially inner surface 78 of the sleeve are generally conical, the stud being wedged within the sleeve. In a second embodiment (Figures 1 to 4), a second bearing 43 is wedged between the sleeve 42 and the stud 24. The joint is subjected to additional compression pre-loaded when the housing is closed. $$
