PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up a hop-by-hop transfer without using a high-speed processor. SOLUTION: This repeater is provided with a transfer destination retrieval circuit 12 being a hardware in addition to a processor. The transfer destination retrieval circuit 12 extracts header information from received IP packet data and retrieves at first an associate memory table 21 by using the header information for a key, and conducts retrieval by a HASH function by using a HASH retrieval pointer table 22 succeedingly when corresponding forwarding information cannot be acquired by the retrieval of the associate memory table 21. When the forwarding information is acquired from a forwarding table 23 as a result of the retrievals, hop by hop transfer of the IP packet data is conducted based on the forwarding information. |
