PURPOSE:To reduce the wear of a tape guide due to contacting of a magnetic tape and to improve the reliability of recording and reproducing by subjecting the tape guide of a magnetic head device to a wear resisting treatment to enhance the hardness or the tape guide. CONSTITUTION:Since a tape guide 5 is formed by press or the like, working is difficult to hinder the workability if its hardness is high; and therefore, liquid nitriding using a fused cyan compound for heating is performed as the method which enhances the hardness without changing dimensions after forming, and a nitriding layer is formed on a guide part 5a of the tape guide 5. A TiN, a TiC, a BN, or the like is coated with a part near the surface of the part contacting with the magnetic tape of the tape guide 5 to enhance the hardness, and the wear resistance is improved. Further, the surface of metallic materials containing carbon components is hardened by the laser beam to enhance the hardness. Thus, the reliability of recording and reproducing is improved. |
