PURPOSE:To maintain sliding characteristics with a magnetic head under excellent conditions for a long period by forming a metallic oxide layer on the protective film layer of a magnetic thin film and depositing an org. liq. lubricant having a polar bond thereon. CONSTITUTION:A protective film layer such as a carbon layer is formed on the magnetic thin film on a substrate. A metallic oxide layer of SiO2, GeO2, etc., is formed on the protective film and an org. liq. lubricant having a polar bond, or a polar group such as perfluoropolyether is further deposited thereon. Consequently, since the metallic oxide has its own polarity, strong intermolecular attraction is generated between the oxide and the polar bond or polar group of the liq. lubricant and the lubricant is firmly retained. Consequently, peeling is not caused when the medium is used for long a time and the excellent sliding property with a magnetic head can be maintained. |
