The invention relates to a domestic stepladder, comprising a ladder part, provided with steps, and a supporting part which is connected in an articulated manner to the ladder part and is made up of two supports, in the case of which, beneath the point of articulation between the ladder part and the supporting part, a single-piece tread board is mounted, by means of shafts, rotatably and such that it can be supported in the horizontal use position, and in the case of which, in the region of said shafts, there can be releasably fitted, without additional, separate fastening means, a horizontally directed ledge board which is fitted in the region of the central leg and of the adjoining end portions of the side legs of a U-shaped carrying hoop which is bent from a flexurally rigid portion of a semifinished product. The end portions of the side legs merge, via inclined intermediate portions, into fastening portions which run approximately parallel to the end portions and have latching receiving means which are vertically offset in the direction away from the underside of the ledge board. The latching receiving means are configured in the region of the fastening-portion ends directed towards the intermediate portions. The latching receiving means can be latched, from above, onto the shaft of the supporting part and can be connected rotatably thereto. The free ends of the fastening portions of the carrying hoop located in the use position have stop portions which interact with the strings.
