An electric switch is actuated by means of an inertial mass movably accommodated in a housing by at least one spring when the acceleration exceeds a predetermined valve. For this purpose, a steel spring ribbon curved about its longitudinal axis and attached to the inertial mass (3) acts as a leaf spring (4).
