PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide, having a high identity to a nucleic acid sequence encoding a polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence and useful for the screening of the antibiotic activity, treatment, diagnosis or the like of infectious diseases. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide comprises a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity to a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence represented by the formula, a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity to a polynucleotide encoding the same mature polypeptide as that expressed by an secA2 gene contained in a deposited strain Staphylococcus aureus, a polynucleotide or the like encoding a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence having at least 70% identity to the amino acid sequence represented by the formula. The polynucleotide is obtained by screening a library of a chromosomal DNA clone of Staphylococcus aureus WCUH293 with an oligonucleotide probe. |
