<p>PURPOSE: To provide a bulb base which is resistant to cracks under corrosive surroundings by employing a copper alloy including any one of Cd, Zn, Fe, P, Zr, Sn, Co, Si, Al and Cr. CONSTITUTION: A base is formed out of a zinc alloy containing a higher content or at least about 94% by weight of copper and any one of Cd, Zn, Fe, P, Zr, Sn, Co, Si, Al and Cr. The threaded portion 12 of the base is preferably formed out of a copper alloy containing at least about 85% by weight of copper, a relatively higher content or at least about 9.0% by weight of nickel and about 1.0 to 1.5% by weight of iron. These alloys may include up to about 2.5% by weight of one or more types of alloyed metals selected from Pb, Zn, Mn and a mixture thereof.</p> |
