The abrasive part of tool has the compsn. 20-60 (pref. 60)% cubic boron nitride, 8-25 (pref. 8)% Co, 8-16 (pref. 8)% bronze, 0.1-6 (pref. 9, sic)% Ag, 5-20 (pref. 5)% Cu and 0-10 (pref. 10)% Sn. The cubic boron nitride may be (partly) replaced by natural or artificial diamond. The components are pref. bonded with epoxy resin. The abrasive part is pref. in the form of a disc and is fixed to a body (1) of light alloy. ADVANTAGE - Tool is not subject to clogging, is not heated sufficiently to affect its life or the rail quality and requires much lower power for entrainment (1.5 hp compared with 20 hp for presently used grinding tools).
