<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a light and compact underground sound locator assembly for detecting excessive earthquake signals along orthogonal axes. CONSTITUTION: This underground sound locator assembly has underground sound locators 12 which are arrayed in a compact housing closely to one another. The underground sound locators 12 are connected to a conductor cable 26 passing through the housing of watertight constitution, and the conductor cable 26 is sheathed with a tapered boot 90 which is compressed around the cable 26 by a sleeve 120, which is fixed with a fixing nut 126. The fixing nut 126 is received by the complementary screw thread of a cable entrance to the housing 22 and the fixing nut when clamped presses the compression sleeve 120 onto the tapered surface of the boot 90 to compress the boot 90 around the cable 26. A bubble level device is positioned on this housing, and the level is equipped with a means which is moved back into the upper part of the housing to magnify the bubble level.</p> |
