CONTROLLER FOR VEHICULAR CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

PURPOSE:To smoothen the gear ratio change of a continuously variable transmission body by forming the controller of a vehicular continuously variable transmission provided with an auxiliary transmission in such a way as to determine the target gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission body by the gear ratio of the auxiliary transmission after the change of the gear stage upon judging the start of gear stage switching operation of the auxiliary transmission. CONSTITUTION:When a shift judging means judges the start of gear stage switching operation of an auxiliary transmission, a target gear ratio determining means is actuated by the judgment signal. The target gear ratio determining means determines the target gear ratio of a continuously variable transmission body in order to obtain the target input shaft rotating speed at that time, on the basis of the gear ratio after the switching of the auxiliary transmission. A gear ratio control means then controls the gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission by this target gear ratio during the switching operation period of the auxiliary transmission.
