PURPOSE: To provide a refractive index distribution type plastic optical fiber and a producing method, which is capable of being used for optical information communication medium. CONSTITUTION: The refractive index distribution type plastic optical fiber consists of a composition of 0/100-(60/40)(wt.%) vinylidene fluoride based resin/ methacrylate based resin, is constituted so that the existing ratio of the vinylidene fluoride based resin increases continuously from the center axis toward the outer peripheral part and is <=0.36 in the opening number NA. Plural spinning stock solutions different in the existing ratio of the vinylidene fluoride based resin are concentrically spun in multilayered conjugate state so that the existing ratio of the vinylidene fluoride based resin increases from the center axis toward the outer peripheral part and next, are heated to execute the mutual diffusion of inter high polymer between the adjacent layers each other. Besides the vinylidene fluoride based resin is uniformly dissolved in a methacrylate based monomer and mixed, the obtained viscous liquid is shaped to fiber like form and after that, the monomer is partially vaporized from the surface and next, polymerized and hardened. |
