The impeller for mixing gas and liquid in froth flotation apparatus, has an upright gas supply tube 11 with vanes 12 extending outwardly therefrom, the vanes 12 having an upper part 19 inducing liquid flow downwardly towards the impeller and a lower part 20 inducing liquid flow upwardly towards the impeller. A barrier 14, in the form of an annular flange, divides the upper and lower parts 19,20, and gas is discharged from the lower end of tube 11 below the barrier. The barrier 14 directs gas radially-outwardly to a position (43, Fig 3) where gas/liquid mixing occurs. |
