A modular loose egg cooling, storage, and transport system (9) includes first and second vertical members (30, 40) adapted to mate with each other and with deck boards (10) in a sandwich formation. The assembled system (9) comprises four of these criss-cross support structures (30, 40) sandwiched between five deck boards (10) to form a shift-resistant unit with the deck boards (10) including a plurality of depressions (17) designed to accept the footprint (11A) of an egg tray (11) and thereby lock stacks of these egg trays (52) in place. All components of the system (9) define apertures (18, 35, 45) therethrough. Using such a system (9), eggs (12) may be cooled rapidly and evenly may be transported without requiring use of special trays, wrapping, or corner safety guards. |
