SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MEASURING BEDROCK STRENGTH BY USING FREE CROSS SECTION EXCAVATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and efficiently measure bedrock strength by measuring the power value of a motor for rotating and driving a cutter head, and calculating uniaxial compression strength corresponding to the measured power value or the processed value from reference data. SOLUTION: A cutter head 3 attached to the edge of the cutter boom 2 of a free cross section excavator 1 is opposed to a cutting face 5, and penetrated into the cutting face 5 by a preset measuring condition while a motor 6 rotating and driving an expansion-contraction jack 11 of the cutter boom 2 and the cutter head 3 is controlled by a control part 4. During penetration a voltage value and a current value of the motor 6 are measured by a voltmeter 12 and an ammeter 13 respectively. Reference data 8 expressing the relation of a previously prepared power value of uniaxial compression strength for various samples in the same condition as a measuring operation condition are read out from a memory part, and uniaxial compression strength corresponding to the power value measured for the cutting face 5 is calculated by a calculation part by means of the reference data 8.
