Chaff cutter unit for combine harvester

The chaff cutter (36) is swivel mounted to a frame of a combined harvester and consists of a frame (42), supporting two rotors (44) with radial arranged horizontal cutting blades (64) which are positioned beside each other and attached to vertical drive shafts (46). The chaff cutter is open to the front, but has curved wall areas (54,56) at the back, which match the outline of the rotors in shape. The distance of the rotors to the rotor blades can be adjusted. Joined to the back walls are rows of horizontal cutting blades (68) alternating with those rotating around the drive shaft. Vertical guides between the blade rows create a vacuum inside the housing (36) transporting the stalks to the blades (64,68).
