The suspension (2) is fed vertically into the device and then diverted by a gutter (4) onto a rubber mat (7), which distributes it in a horizontal direction as a flaky, air permeable, filter cake across the whole width of the band of a vacuum filter conveyor. The mat rests on the conveyor so that the suspension flows onto the conveyor in its direction of travel.
