PURPOSE: A method for controlling detection of heating point of a microwave oven is provided to exactly detect the heating point by setting minimum detection period of time and ignoring if the heating point is detected within the minimum detection period of time. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling detection of heating point of the microwave oven includes the steps of counting detection time when the heating is started, detecting humidity and calculating a change amount of the humidity, comparing the change amount of the humidity to preset standard value, comparing whether or not the current detection time is more than the preset minimum period of time if the change amount of the humidity is more than the standard value, repeating detection of heating point after ignoring if the current detection time is less than the minimum period of time, and controlling automatic cooking by finding additional cooking time on the basis of a detection time by that time if the current detection time is more than the minimum period of time.
