PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a base paper of high resolution and of little white void defect, free from plate contact creases and provided with superior carrying properties by setting a contact angle with water on the film surface constituting a base paper at the specified value or larger and also setting the surface specific resistance thereof at the specified value or less. SOLUTION: The contact angle of a base paper with water on a thermoplastic resin film on the opposite side of a porous substrate is set at 70 deg. or larger, and the surface ratio resistance is set as 1×1013Ω/(square) or less. As the thermoplastic film, preferably a polyester film composed of a polyester, its copolymer or a blend of them is used. The thickness of the film is preferably 0.1-5μm. The porous substrate is preferably provided with ink passing-through properties and substantially not generating the deformation under heat under the condition of heat for perforating the film, and the substrate composed of polyester fibers is preferable. Its weight per unit area is preferably set as 1-20 g/m2 from the viewpoint of ink retention properties.
