摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool made of a surface coating cemented carbide alloy with exhibits excellent abrasion-resistant in cutting causing high heat generation. SOLUTION: The cutting tool made of a surface coating super-hard material is obtained by carrying out physical vapor deposition on a hard coating layer having 0.5 to 20μm thickness in total average. The hard coating layer is composed of a Ti compound layer consisting of one layer or two layers or more of a titanium carbide layer, a titanium nitride layer, and a titanium carbonitride layer which all have 0.1 to 5μm thickness in average, respectively. When these layers are indicated by compositional formulas: TiCv, TiNv and Ti(C1-wNw)v, they satisfy values of v:0.8 to 1.2, w:0.3 to 0.7 in an atomic ratio. Further, the hard coating layer contains a Zr-based complex oxide layer consisting of layers of 0.1 to 10μm thickness in average respectively, and in which these layers satisfy values of x:0.1 to 0.3, and y:1.5 to 2.5 in an atomic ratio, when indicated by a formula: (Zr1-xMx)Oy (M is composed of one kind or two kinds or more of V, Cu, Cr, Mn and Y). These two layers are laminated on a surface of a substrate consisting of WC group cemented carbide alloy or TiCN system cermet.
