PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing means capable of finely processing, agitating and homogenizing a living body sample derived from a wide range of animals and plants irrespective to its specific gravity either large or small in a good efficiency and useful for the extraction of nucleic acids, testing of pathogenic bacteria, etc., by dividing the tip end part for capable of nipping the samples. SOLUTION: This processing means 10 can process a sample 4 in a container 2 by moving in the container 2, and its tip part 10a is divided to be capable of nipping the sample 4. Further, the tip end part 10a is divided so as to be able to be elastically deformed to be capable of nipping the sample 4 as restrained by the shape of the container 2 or to be separated the more from each other on going the more to the tip end, also is equipped with a chemical resistance and formed by a hard and almost rod state material. Further, by inserting the processing means 10 into the container 2 and performing either one of or both of a vertical movement in its long axial direction or rotational movement around the long axial center of the processing means 10, the sample 4 in the container 2 is processed.
