PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that is used to generate black/ white print data without causing white level deformation or back level smear. SOLUTION: The image processing unit is provided with a discrimination section 20 that consists of a 1st discrimination means 21 that discriminates whether or not a target pixel is a pixel placed at an end of black pixels whose number is a predetermined pixel number (m+1) or over, of a pixel width detection means 24 and a 2nd discrimination means 22 that discriminate whether or not white pixels whose number is (n) or below are consecutively in existence adjacent to the target pixel, and of a 3rd discrimination means 23 that discriminates whether or not the target pixel is used for an object pixel of thickening processing on the basis of discrimination results ax, ay by the 1st discrimination means 21 and discrimination results dx, dy by the 2nd discrimination means 22. A white/black inversion section 30 inverts the target pixel into a white pixel when the discrimination result (e) of the 3rd discrimination means 23 indicates the unity and thickens a white line by one pixel so as to prevent white level deformation and also can prevent black level smear by replacing black pixels with white pixels and applying the similar processing to the replaced pixels. |
