PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the service life of ion exchange columns when a high purity boric acid solution is obtained by treating an acid radical-containing boron eluate produced by adsorbing boron in a boron-containing aqueous solution on an ion exchange resin and passing an acid through the resin to regenerate the resin and to reduce troublesome operations such as the separation, regeneration and mixing of cation and anion exchange resins in the regeneration operation of ion exchange resins. SOLUTION: An acid radical-containing boron eluate produced by adsorption on an ion exchange resin and regeneration by elution is successively passed through a first ion exchange column packed with a I type or II type highly basic anion exchange resin adjusted to OH type or a slightly basic anion exchange resin adjusted to OH type and through a second ion exchange column packed with a mixture of a slightly acidic cation exchange resin adjusted to H type and a I type or II type highly basic anion exchange resin adjusted to OH type or a slightly basic anion exchange resin adjusted to OH type.
